An electronic cigarette is also known as an e-cig or ENIC (electronic nicotine imitation cigarette). It creates an aerosol mist simulating the act of smoking without burning tobacco. It consists of four elements a cartridge, which acts as a reservoir and usually the mouthpiece. Better models use a small refillable tank to hold the liquid. The Atomizer is a small heating coil which is used to vaporize the fluid. In some models the cartridge and atomizer are combined into a single unit which is known as a cartomizer. A lithium-ion rechargeable battery supplies the power to the atomizer comes in two forms, an automatic battery which will turn on when the user inhales or a manual version which has a small push-button switch to turn the device on. Finally there is the liquid known as e-juice or e-liquid; it is a solution of propylene glycol, glycerine, nicotine and the flavouring.
